Shock Alert, a pioneer in the market of detecting potentially fatal electric current in fresh water pools and boating docks, recognized several issues with their initial production unit. Before embarking on a large-scale volume increase and marketing campaign, they aimed to capitalize on their learnings and develop a second version that advanced the concept in the field. Desired enhancements such as technological/firmware and software updates, addressing challenges associated with water ingress, proper usage/expectations, and production cost/assembly. Objex adopted a fundamental approach, delving into product use patterns, floatation requirements, and human factors. The result was a redesigned form factor that not only prioritized intuitive usage and clear alert indications, but also harnessed advanced manufacturing techniques to achieve significant advancements in waterproofing and cost reduction.

Designing for real-world performance demands rigor and testing. Through strategic use of over-molding and insert molding, we effectively mitigated water ingress - enhancing durability and giving users greater confidence in the reliability of their device.
Process
Early development explored form, float dynamics, and user interaction. Through sketches, CAD, and prototyping, we refined the Shock Alert PRO into a safer, more intuitive, and manufacturable second-generation product.
Testing confirmed Shock Alert PRO floats upright, tracks straight, and stays sealed—ensuring reliability, buoyancy, and performance in real-world conditions.
BRANdING
Logo exploration balanced boldness, clarity, and safety. Final branding reinforces alertness and reliability across all environments—with strong visibility on both yellow and gray backgrounds for product, packaging, and digital applications.
